The popular Tesla electric sedan gains larger battery packs for increased range.
13 December 2021 Update: The price of the Long Range variant of the 2022 Tesla Model 3 has dropped by $200 before on-road costs, and is now priced at $73,200. The details in the story has been updated accordingly.
07 November 2021: An interesting update comes to the 2022 Tesla Model 3 car in Australia. Now, the sedan comes with a larger battery which delivers a longer range. And that too, at the same price. The Model 3 sedan can now be ordered online through the Tesla Australia official website.
On the all-wheel drive, the Tesla Model 3 now delivers a range of 614 km. Considering the fact that it previously delivered 580 km, it is quite a huge leap. Though, for the base model 3 sedan, it looks like the larger battery has slightly reduced the performance.
For instance, the time to reach 100 km/h from 0 is increased from 5.6 seconds to 61 seconds. Though, this has not affected the top speed of the vehicle, which still sits at 225 km/h. Though, the performance of the other variants has not changed.
The Long Range and Performance variants both take 4.4 seconds and 3.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, respectively. At the same time, they come with a top speed of 233 km per hour and 267 km/h, respectively.
Currently, the base Model 3 by Tesla costs $59,900. On the other hand, the Model 3 Long Range and Performance variants cost $73,200 and $84,900, respectively. Other than that, it looks like the interior choices, wheels, and colour choices have not changed either.
According to Tesla, it can take between 8 to 12 weeks to deliver the vehicle once ordered. Now that the orders are open, if you ordered the 2022 Model 3 today, you would receive it in around two-three months.
The most notable features of the new Model 3 by Tesla include 18-inch alloy wheels, an infotainment system with a 15 inches touchscreen, vegan upholstery, electric front seats, wireless phone charging, USB-C ports, emergency brakes, semi-autonomous driving system, and a lot more.
Some exclusive features have been added to the Performance and Long Range variants. For instance, the former features 20-inch Uberturbine wheels, while the latter comes with 19-inch sports wheels.
