The Balenciaga x adidas Collab is Here but It’s Just for a Limited Time

Balenciaga unveiled its long-rumoured adidas collab alongside its Spring 2023 collection.

During Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 runway presentation in NYC, the Paris-based fashion label sent models down the runway. They were wearing ponytailed gimp masks and pieces from the Balenciaga x adidas collaboration.

The collection includes socks costing US$ 210 to a Ye-Esque hooded leather jacket that costs US$ 5,500. You can see some classic adidas pieces like 3-Stripes tracksuits, hoodies, jerseys, and tees in the collab. They all get the Balenciaga treatment because they have updated oversized silhouettes that are quite baggy.

One of the pieces from the collaboration that’s definitely worth attention is the Triple S sneaker. It is chunky and available in blue and white colorways. They cost US$ 1,100.

After the runway confirmation, adidas Originals took to Instagram to assure the partnership is “coming soon.” It used the Balenciaga x adidas logo mashup. The timing of this collab is interesting. It was launched just after the adidas x Gucci collection, which will drop in June.

As Gucci and Balenciaga are under the same parent company, Kering, it can be said that the company prefers to keep everything in the family. After the adidas x Gucci hype, this new collab will keep people talking and let both the brands grab a lot of limelight.

Another interesting thing to note is that Demna, Balenciaga’s creative director has close ties to Ye’s Yeezy brand. Yeezy is undoubtedly the biggest partner of adidas. Maybe Ye will put in a good word for Demna. Or the initial success of YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga (another collection is also on the horizon) spoke for itself.

We might see a Balenciaga x YEEZY x adidas in the future too. After all, we can’t put anything past Demna or Ye. Though the origin story of the latest collab is kept under wraps (and might be for a few years or even forever), fashion enthusiasts can shop from the collection soon.
