Warner Bros has confirmed that the runtime of its upcoming film The Batman is nearly 3 hours. The film is Robert Pattinson’s first outing as Bruce Wayne. It was supposed to be Ben Affleck’s solo DCEU outing. The film will take place outside the mainline DCEU and will show the story of how he spent his early years actively fighting crime in Gotham City.

In Matt Reeves’ solo film, The Batman will face off against many different villains, including Riddler (played by Paul Dano), Penguin (played by Colin Farrell). The film will also include Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman (played by Zoë Kravitz). Jeffrey Wright will play the role of Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis will be Alfred.

Speculation regarding the runtime of The Batman began when different websites posted about runtimes that varied from just over two hours to about three hours. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the runtime is two hours and 55 minutes, and the credits are eight minutes long. No one knows whether the film will have any mid or post-credit scenes. So, The Batman is now the longest solo movie ever made that tells the story of the Caped Crusader.

The Batman will also be the third-longest superhero movie ever made. The first spot goes to Avengers: Endgame at 181 minutes, while the second spot goes to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which was the longest at 242 minutes.

As expected, there is a lot of hype for The Batman movie worldwide, including in Australia. Even the cast members are adding fuel to it. Last year, Andy Serkis, who plays the role of Alfred Pennyworth, stated, “I’ll tell you that it was fantastic being reunited with Matt Reeves, [producer] Dylan Clark, and [VFX supervisor] Dan Lemmon from the Planet of the Apes films.” He added, “We had such a great time making it, and when it eventually comes to the screen, Matt Reeves will have made another masterpiece film because he’s so super-invested in it. But yeah… I’ve been forbidden – expressly forbidden – to talk about Alfred.”

The Batman official synopsis:

In his second year of fighting crime, Batman uncovers corruption in Gotham City that connects to his own family while facing a serial killer known as the Riddler.
