Dr. Judy Mikovits is a discredited scientist who has now transformed into a star of coronavirus disinformation. Her video, Plandemic, that contains misinformation about the virus went viral recently and popular platforms are doing their best to control it. It went viral despite the efforts of Facebook, Twitter and Google to control misinformation since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis.

 

The Dr. Judy Mikovits video that became the first true hit conspiracy video revolving around the coronavirus crisis became popular last week. The video is edited in documentary style but it’s production standard is higher than many other conspiracy videos. It is filled with medical misinformation regarding the origins of the virus and its transmission.

Though social media platforms like Facebook and video platforms like YouTube are trying their best to control the Plandemic video by Dr. Judy Mikovits, users are constantly reuploading the same. In the video, it is claimed that the virus was released from a laboratory environment and couldn’t possibly be naturally-occurring.

 

The misinformation filled Dr. Judy Mikovits video also claims that using gloves and masks makes people more sick and closing the beaches is insanity as water has healing microbes. It also says that the number of deaths are falsified to exert control over the population.

It must be highlighted here that none of the claims made in the Dr. Judy Mikovits video are medically or scientifically proven.

 

The Plandemic video by Dr. Judy Mikovits went viral on Wednesday and was viewed 3 million times on YouTube. Also, Facebook posts related to the video have been liked, commented and shared more than 10 million times as of Thursday afternoon.  

Facebook spokesperson, Andy Stone has confirmed that the company is removing the Dr. Judy Mikovits video. Explaining the key reason, Stone said “Suggesting that wearing a mask can make you sick could lead to imminent harm, so we’re removing the video.”

 

A YouTube spokesperson has also confirmed that the video was being removed as it talked about a cure for COVID-19 which has been not backed by health organizations. Twitter didn’t implement a blanket ban on the video like Facebook or YouTube as the platform’s technology doesn’t let a user upload such a long video. However, the company is willing to evaluate clips from that video if people upload it.

It seems Dr. Judy Mikovits has got what she wanted – Fame at the cost of fear!
