The official trailer of the Gray Man is out. Based on Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name, Chris Evans will be seen hunting Ryan Gosling in the Netflix film. The film has been in development hell for more than a decade. It has seen different directors like Ad Astra director James Gray to Avengers: Endgame duo the Russo Brothers in mid-2020.

Many stars were previously attached or in talks for the project, including some pretty big stars like Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron. After a long while, Netflix landed the rights to the film, and Russos cast Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as leads of the film.

In the film, Gosling will star as a skilled mercenary Court Gentry who uncovers CIA dark secrets. As a result, he will have a target placed on his head, and bounty hunters will be tracking him. He would be forced to go on a run. One of the people coming after him in The Gray Man would be his psychopathic former colleague, Lloyd Hansen, played by Evans.

The star cast of The Gray Man also includes names like Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, DeObia Oparei, and Michael Gandolfini.

The Gray Man trailer offered the first proper look at the film and the return of Russos’ to the action genre. It shows the two stars racing around the globe and playing a deadly cat and mouse game. As expected, it is an action-packed trailer with many exciting sequences like a disastrous train crash and multiple close encounters between Gosling and Evans. The trailer makes it clear that Evans and Gosling’s characters were colleagues, but they had never met one another before.

Another thing that makes The Gray Man trailer stand out is the sly humour from Evans and Gosling throughout the film. Evans said that his character is unlike any character he has played before, and he is free and liberated. Even the Russos compared his character to Captain America with a humorous Avengers: Endgame reference. They said they changed the actor from “America’s a– to America’s a–hole.” The Gray Man will hit Netflix on July 22.
