After 50 years, the original design of the Lamborghini Countach LP500 is going to hit the streets again. Polo Storico just unveiled a rebuild of an LP 500 prototype perfected to every inch. This prototype was first unveiled in 1971 at the Geneva Motor Show.

The team has made sure that the recreation has everything right. Reports say that over 25000 hours have been spent recreating the Lamborghini Countach from scratch. It is hard to pin down the impact that the Countach has had on the world of supercars.

The Lamborghini Countach features a signature angular wedge with a wide stance, making its design quite nostalgic. Of course, back in the day, the design elements of the Countach were controversial.

However, eventually, different automakers adopted the same design. Now that it has been decades since its original unveiling, the Lamborghini Countach stands among the most iconic cars of the 80s.

Unfortunately, though, the original Lamborghini Countach may not have lasted long. While it certainly was among the most important vehicles ever unveiled, the company has reported that it ended up getting destroyed during crash-testing in 1974.

In 2017, the automotive company tried bringing the Lamborghini Countach back to life again. This happened after a well-known car aficionado wanted the brand to build another Countach LP500. The enthusiast wanted a replica perfect to the inch and not just a resto-mod with similarities to the original version.

And that is what the Polo Storico team is now set to achieve. First, it took long hours to go through the original documents. Then, the team made an analysis of all the pictures that they could. After that, they used computer scanning technology to get every detail right.

Where possible, the team made use of the original Lamborghini Countach parts. However, some parts had to be made from scratch. Even the metal body comes coated with the original yellow hue. The tires also belong to the original LP 500 prototype.

The recreated Lamborghini Countach LP 500 could debut this weekend and would certainly be priced way above the Countach LPI 800-4 hybrid, which was announced recently.

In other news, the prices of the 2022 Polestar 2 here in Australia have been revealed.
