The Last of Us: Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey to Star in the HBO Series
The Last of Us TV series will focus on the first game’s events
It has been confirmed that the Mandalorian star, Pedro Pascal will play the role of Joel in the TV series that is based on an iconic video game that had the same name – The Last of Us. He will accompany, Bella Ramsay who won millions of hearts as Lyanna Mormont and lost her life in the show has been cast in the video game adaptation as Ellie. Pascal also had a short role in GoT as Oberyn Martell.
For those readers who are unaware, the game’s plot revolves around a young girl called Ellie (played by Ramsay), a young orphan and Joel (played by Pascal) who is a hardened doomsday survivor.
In The Last of Us game, Ellie is immune to a virus that has taken over the world. She forms a relationship with Joel so that she can get out of the dangerous quarantine zone. Joel, who knows a lot about keeping alive in the post-apocalypse landscape, decides to help her as she might hold the key to a cure that might help a pandemic destroyed the USA.
Though HBO’s TV series will focus on the first game’s events, there would likely be a sequel in a store based on The Last of Us Part II, which was released in May 2020.
The Last of Us TV series will be developed by Craig Mazin, who brought the incredible Chernobyl TV series to life. He will likely take the assistance of Neil Druckmann, a popular video game director to ensure that the series is presented perfectly. As Druckmann is a fan of the video game itself, his involvement in the series will add to the flavour.
Talking about Druckmann’s involvement in the TV Series, Mazin stated “Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honoured to do it in partnership with Neil.”
