The Mandalorian, a show that airs on Disney Plus, has topped the list of most popular entertainment franchises in the US. This was revealed after a survey that was conducted by the National Research Group. The show is set in the Star Wars Universe, and it premiered about a year back.

In addition to gathering critical acclaim, The Mandalorian became popular due to the appearance of Baby Yoda, an entity that looks like Yoda and has very adorable expressions. The fans have also fallen in love with the bounty hunter showed in the series, Din Djarin.

The second season of The Mandalorian is also well-received. One of the key highlights was the debut of Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) in Chapter 13: The Jedi. The fans also liked knowing the real name of Baby Yoda.

It seems that the investment in The Mandalorian has paid off for Disney. The survey by National Research Group in the US asked people of the country about 700 entertainment franchises to find out which ones the consumers thought to be the best. This survey started in January 2019 and included more than 350,000 interviews.

The results were then analysed to find out which of the franchises were likely to continue to evolve, reinvent itself and be relevant even through the test of time. Joe Penn, the CEO of NRG said: “Consumers are ready for entertainment franchises to lean into important cultural conversations and create a new reality — one in which optimism, diversity and curiosity unite rather than divide us.”

In addition to The Mandalorian, several other entertainment franchises from Disney were on the list. In fact, 70% of the list was dominated by Disney and Marvel. Netflix was on the third spot as it had three of the top 10 titles. The streamer also had more entries in the top 20 as compared to Disney Plus.
