Hummer EV – GMC

GMC has officially launched the new Hummer EV to give stiff competition to Tesla Cybertruck, Ford Electric F-150 and Rivian R1T. However, you might not see it in Australia anytime soon. It can be a game-changer in the EV category as it brings pure electric power to a category that was previously dominated by diesel and petrol versions of V8s.

The new Hummer will be available in SUV and dual-cab pick-up configurations and will produce a huge 735kW and 2033Nm. The car will go from 0-60mph or 97km/h in just 3.0 seconds and might have a driving range of 560km thanks to the 200kWh battery. The 350kW system will deliver a driving range of 160km in just 10 minutes.

As expected, the Hummer EV will have a crab mode that will allow a person to drive it diagonally. It is an essential part of the standard four-wheel steering system. The vehicle will also have a hands-free driving system and a semi-autonomous lane changing feature. It also has an off-road extract mode that increases the air suspension approximately 15cm to help in overcoming large obstacles.

What many people would certainly like about the new Hummer is that the underbody of the desired vehicle is fully armoured. The factory production of the car is expected to start sometime in 2021. The launch and the production, both have been postponed due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

Another interesting bit about the new Hummer is that a person can choose from four versions. The Edition Feature 1 was highlighted in the Tuesday commercial. It will be available sometime in 2021. Then, in 2022, the company will launch a three-motor version of the vehicle that will be called the 3X and will be slightly more affordable. It will have 9,500 lb-ft of twist, 800 horsepower and a range that exceeds 300 miles (482 km).

GMC’s new Hummer EV is here.

In 2023, it will be followed by two-motor 2X, and finally, in 2024, people will see the entry-level 2. These two versions will have 625 horsepower and 7,400 lb-ft of twist. However, the 2X will go 482 km on one charge while the 2 will only go as high as 402 km. An SUV variant might also be available in 2023, but no details of it were shared at the time of writing this article.

The pricing of the new Hummer EV is still under wraps. We’d let you know as soon as we know. Come back for updates!
