The much-awaited Air Dior’s Air Jordan 1 Dior was released online last week. There was a report from WWD revealing that more than five million people entered for a chance to win a pair of the coveted sneakers through an online raffle.

 

The Air Jordan 1 Dior first launched on the25th of June at a dedicated Dior microsite where people could register for a chance to purchase the sneakers, with the option to register only once for their desired sneaker style and size. People began entering the site late in the evening AEST, causing the microsite to close the registration only a few hours later.

 

The Air Jordan 1 Dior is one of the most anticipated sneaker releases of the year, only 8,000 of the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 Dior sneakers were made available to be released in the market, however, the numbers of the registration were more than five million. It was 625 times more people than what was actually available.

 

The president and chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture, Pietro Beccari, told WWD that the selection of the Air Jordan 1 Dior available for the public was completed in nine hours, and the raffle winners were notified on 2nd of July. Beccari also revealed that while 8,000 pairs were made available to the public, there was another batch of 5,000 pairs that were also produced for Dior’s top clients and were directly contacted with an invitation to purchase. 13,000 pairs of Air Jordan 1 Dior in total exist for this collaboration, high- and low-top styles included.

 

The Air Jordan 1 Dior were priced at A$3,300 for the low-top version and A$3,800 for the high-top model, however, the sneakers already going for more than five times the retail price on the secondary market right now.
