The flying car created by Slovakian tech company, Klein Vision, also referred to as the AirCar just completed its 1st inter-city flight. This hybrid aircraft plus land vehicle took off in the Slovakian skies and safely landed, hence completing a big milestone. Indeed, it looks like the future is already here.

This flying car has been designed by Professor Stefan Klein from Klein Vision. The company has been developing this vehicle for over 30 years, with several prototypes that went into different stages of approval.

The AirCar is the flying car Prototype 1. This fascinating vehicle can transform into an aircraft and a sports car within 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Furthermore, it uses a 160 HP engine by BMW powered by gasoline. This engine features propulsion as well as a fixed propeller along with a ballistic parachute.

A couple of days back, the flying car completed a trip between Bratislava and Nitra airport in only 35 minutes. Once landed, Stefan Klein, the genius behind the AirCar, pushed a trigger button, and the vehicle turned into a regular sports car. He then drove into the city’s centre.

Currently, the first prototype of the flying car has 142 touchdowns successfully. Furthermore, it has covered over 40 test hours. According to Stefan Klein, the flying car has reached up to 2500 meters at a maximum 300 km/h speed. Furthermore, the vehicle weighs only 200 kg.

Overall, the cost of making this prototype was less than AUD $3.16 million (AUD). One can expect it to cost more than that once the flying car enters production.

Regarding this, Stefan Klein stated, “This flight starts a new era of dual transportation vehicles. It opens a new category of transportation and returns the freedom originally attributed to cars back to the individual.”

Though this is not the only flying car prototype. The company is also reportedly working on an AirCar Prototype 2. With that, Klein Vision is also focusing on four- and three-seater versions. Overall, the prospects seem to be huge.
