Genus GNS1.2 TD

Genus has launched its latest titanium watch, the GNS1.2 TD in Damascene Titanium (the TD stands for Titane Damassé), that looks stunning and will surely amaze everyone with its build. This exquisite timepiece has the patented Genus mechanical elements that move seamlessly from one orbit to another and give information about the time.

The mokume-gane process includes hammering and folding the metal repeatedly to attain a remarkable look. The individual layers are visibly laminated together. The durability of the Genus’ titanium watch is quite amazing too, as the titanium of this watch is three times stronger than steel and 40 percent lighter. Extremely high temperatures are needed in the production of the piece, which also enhances the durability and hardness further. The temperatures can be as high as 2,192- 2.552 degrees Fahrenheit.

This unique titanium watch has a blue dye applied by hand when the watch is on an open flame. Every piece is created like that to ensure that the natural layers are highlighted magnificently. The future owners would also be invited to see the titanium watch being crafted, and they can also decide the finish they desire that might include options like satin, matte, or polished.

The initial block of titanium is moulded and shaped into a 42 mm case, and it has an 18K gold in-house and manually wound movement. It operates at 2.5 Hz or 18000 vibrations, has 26 jewels, and comes with a 50-hour power reserve, which is water-resistant up to 30 meters. With this titanium watch, Genus offers three options of these watches when it comes to Genera. They can have a vertical or inclined orientation, or they can be jewelled. Customization options also extend to the watch fastening with buyers able to choose either a strap made from hand-stitched calfskin or alligator upon request.

The titanium watch by Genus will cost about USD 155,930 (about AUD 218,697.13), and is available for order on the official website already. Though it’s not a limited edition watch, it will have only limited annual production. In other watch news, Patek Philippe has also launched three timeless pieces that you can drool over.
