Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, aka Thor, has defeated Eddie Hall in what many believe to be the ‘world’s heaviest boxing match.’ The match was held at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium. The Mountain won by unanimous decision after six rounds.

Thor vs. The Beast

There is no doubt that Hall was the favourite of fans in the stadium, and he got a lot of cheer from them. He started defeating Hall from the moment the match started. There was a moment when Björnsson bust open Hall’s face in the first round. Then, in the third round, he knocked him down. Thor again knocked Hall down in the sixth round. Judges declared Thor as the winner with a 57-54 score.

Hall and Björnsson were friends once, but they turned into foes. Also known as ‘The Beast’ and ‘Thor, ‘ they were winners of World’s Strongest Man. So, no one was surprised when the fight was named ‘the heaviest boxing match in history.

After the fight, Hall said that his motivation was 100 percent hatred and also stated that he was driven by a desire to ‘get in the ring and break this f***er’s face.’ That hatred started in 2017 when Hall won World’s Strongest Man, and Björnsson made claims. Since then, both have exchanged unpleasant words many times. Their friendship has evaporated and has been replaced by hostility.

Hall was adamant that he would win the fight and stressed that it wasn’t about money. He earlier stated, “The money is not the incentive for me. I’m already rich, I don’t give a f**k about the money. This is about me and Thor now – this is personal.”

Thor predicted Hall’s anger would be his enemy, and his boxing skills would win. He stated, “I don’t like the guy, but I’m here to box and show the people my boxing skills, staying calm and staying relaxed. He is going to come in angry like a bull and is probably gonna gas out in the first round or second round because he’s so angry and p***ed off. The man cannot control his emotions.”

He added, “He’s too focused on the past. He’s too angry, he’s like a 16-year-old boy, if you cannot control your emotions you cannot fight. There’s no way that man can fight six rounds against me. My plan is to box, my plan is to show my skills and technique and show the people my ability in the boxing ring. If he is not ready, I’m going to knock him out soon. He’s going to come in silly, throwing wild hooks – I have a longer reach. I’m going to catch him, and he’s gonna fall down, then we’re going to hear some excuses.”
