The concept behind the virgin hyperloop is not a new one. Essentially, this company turned an idea by Elon Musk into reality. This involves taking passengers through vacuum tubes as a way of traveling.

Due to little to no air pressure resisting the motion, a pod is capable of achieving high speeds this way. Based on a test that was just recently concluded, two passengers were taken through the test track of Virgin Hyperloop in Nevada.

The pod has had dimensions of approximately 500 meters and achieved a speed of up to 107 mph. Overall, the trip took only 6.25 seconds.

The occupants of this pod were Sara Luchian, the passenger experience director at Hyperloop, and Josh Giegel, the CTO chief technology officer and co-founder of the company.

Based on the NY Times, Sara Luchian mentioned “much smoother” than expected when she was asked about the ride. At the same time, the co-founder of the company said that his experience was “not that much different than accelerating in a sports car.

Based in Los Angeles, the Virgin Hyperloop company has the vision of introducing floating pods with passengers that can up to or more than 1000 kph.

The Virgin Hyperloop technology makes use of magnetic levitation. As a result of this, travel is quick and noiseless. So, a trip to the Virgin Hyperloop will take just around an hour from Sydney to Melbourne.

This would be two times faster than what a jet flight would allow. At the same time, it would be 4 times faster than a train journey.

Previously, Virgin Hyperloop has complete 400 tests in its track but without passengers. And this was the first time that it transported two passengers.

It is expected that this company will have its safety certifications ready by 2025 and commercial operations shall begin by 2030. So, the future is not too far away.

At the same time, Virgin Galactic, which is a subsidiary of the Virgin group just like the Virgin Hyperloop, is innovating private space flights. So, traveling both at the land and space is going to be transformed completely.
