Imagine watching a movie based on a pandemic during the times of pandemic. This is our sad reality now as Songbird movie trailer is out, and the thriller is also about living during the pandemic and surviving it.

 

In the Songbird movie trailer, Nico , KJ Apa’s character, can be seen trying to survive a pandemic. The film is co-produced by Michael Bay. It was first announced this May. The film was worked on without the need to keep multiple people in the same room. The low-budget film did not have scenes that required the actors to interact directly with each other. So, the film taps into the almost complete isolation that hundreds of thousands of people felt during the current coronavirus pandemic.

 

After watching the Songbird movie trailer, it is clear that the film revolves around Nico. It shows the United States in 2022 and the country has been dealing with the pandemic for four years. The deadly COVID-23 virus is taking lives, and the government seems to be forcing infected citizens in Q-zones (quarantine camps).

 

From the Songbird movie trailer, it is clear that amidst the chaos, Nico, who has COVID immunity is working the frontlines and helping people by biking across Los Angeles. He falls in love with Saya (played by Sofia Carson) who has been stuck at home. When Nico discovers that Sara is infected, he tries to save her from imprisonment…or something worse.

 

The Songbird movie trailer slows down “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and allows people to look into a dystopian near future. The film is directed by Adam Mason who worked with Simon Boyes on the script. In addition to Apa and Carson, the film also stars Craig Robinson, Peter Stormare, Paul Walter Hauser, Bradley Whitford, Alexandra Daddario, and Demi Moore.

 

Here’s the full synopsis:

Amid this dystopian landscape, a fearless courier, Nico (KJ Apa), who’s immune to the deadly pathogen, finds hope and love with Sara (Sofia Carson), though her lockdown prohibits them from physical contact. When Sara is believed to have become infected, Nico races desperately across the barren streets of Los Angeles in search of the only thing that can save her from imprisonment … or worse.

Songbird also stars Bradley Whitford and Demi Moore as a wealthy couple who may hold the key to Nico’s mission; Alexandra Daddario as a singer enmeshed in a messy and forbidden affair; Paul Walter Hauser as a disabled veteran whose best friend – a drone named Max – is his eyes and ears to a world that has left him behind; Craig Robinson as Nico’s boss; and Peter Stormare as the corrupt head of the city’s “sanitation” department, which seizes those infected and transports them to the Q-Zone.

Songbird movie would hit the theatres soon and would probably get as much attention as other pandemic horror movies like She Dies Tomorrow and Contagion. It feels weird to know that filmmakers will probably earn some good money from our collective despair.
