It looks like he’s really leaving the MCU

Many fans of the Marvel Universe are still celebrating the fact that Marvel studios acquired the Fox Marvel characters. There’s a setback waiting for them. According to reliable reports, the deal between Marvel and Sony that allows Spider-Man to appear in MCU movies might end soon.

Money is the problem, and we aren’t surprised. According to reports, Disney had been taking small percent of grosses on movies like Homecoming and Far from Home. But now it wants a bigger slice of the pie MCU Phase 4 and moving forward. Disney wanted to split the profits 50-50, but Sony didn’t bother to counter that.

A representative of Sony said that the belief is over a producer credit and negotiations are still on. It seems that Kevin Fiege won’t be producing any Spider-man movies. Sony said that he had contributed to other Spidey movies, but he didn’t get any producer credit for them.

No matter what the main issue is, Sony and Marvel need to sort things out so that fans can look forward to more MCU phases.

As expected, fans are angry about Spider-Man being kicked out of the MCU. They shared their opinions on Twitter. One fan seemed angry that the fans might have to pretend that the superhero was never a part of Marvel. Another said that Sony wouldn’t find it easy to write another Spidey movie without MCU references.

One user also highlighted that MCU needs Spider-Man more than he needs the MCU. We think that this fan is right because (spoiler alert) when Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame, fans hoped that Spidey would fill in his metal boots. But if Sony and Marvel don’t sort things out, there might be no “next Iron Man” in the future.

Some fans also mentioned that they favoured Spider-Man appearing only in solo movies and not being a pawn in the MCU. One fan even highlighted that as Spider-Man: Far from home is Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film of all time, the company won’t be too eager to split the profits.
