Most people who know and love whiskies agree that a rare Japanese single malt whiskey has its unique charm. It is the reason why the demand for such whiskies has risen sharply in the last few years. As the demand is growing and the supply becomes short in the global market, Nagahama distillery has come up with a unique offer.

The distillery will allow anyone to purchase an entire barrel of their single malt whiskey, a 225-litre cask if you pay AUD 25,000. It is a unique chance for all whiskey lovers to secure a coveted single malt whiskey for the future. It can be used as an investment or can be used as an enjoyable option in the future.

A buyer can choose from Madeira or Calvados casks that cost about AUD 21,000 or choose a sherry cask that will cost about AUD 25,000. After you choose, the single malt whiskey would be aged for seven years. As the average evaporation rate is around 2 per cent a year, you can enjoy about 279 bottles when the seven-year period ends. If you need additional ageing of the single malt whiskey, you need to pay an additional fee of AUD 210 a year.

Nagahama distillery is the smallest and the newest whiskey producer in Japan that came to limelight in 2016. Every single malt whiskey they produce is distilled in limestone-filtered water under the guise of Takashi Kiyoi, a Scottish trained master blender. The water is sourced from Mt Ibuki and combined with Barley that is imported from England.

When you choose to age the single malt whiskey, you will also get a framed title of ownership for your cask, a photograph of the same, a 500 ml bottle of Nagahama new make (unaged) spirit that went into the cask, a 100 ml sample of an unreleased Nagahama single malt whiskey, and a 700 ml bottle of the Amahagan (which is Nagahama spelt backwards), an award-winning World Blend Edition whisky. You will also get aa unique blend of non-Japanese whiskies which are combined with Nagahama’s single malt whiskey. If you are a whiskey lover, you might also want to know about Johnnie Walker 200th anniversary whiskies that were announced recently.
