According to reports, Elon Musk’s Tesla is working on a secret project code-named “Palladium,” it appears that the Model S and Model X will receive a major update.

While nothing is official yet, Electrek reported that new production lines are needed in order to manufacture the “Palladium” Model S and Model X electric models. The electric vehicles are expected to receive new drive units and battery modules, which may potentially feature the super-fast “Plaid” mode that Tesla has been testing recently. Elon Musk even went after Porsche with a Tesla Model S equipped with “Plaid” mode.

Furthermore, rumors also suggest that Tesla’s “Palladium” will introduce new interior design to the Model S and Model X — something that is quite overdue, as the design of the Tesla Model S hasn’t been updated since 2017, and the X has been the same since 2015.  Tesla could working on an updated Model S interior that echoes the one used in their Model 3. It was rumoured the updates would include a minimalist looking dashboard and a floating infotainment system that is similar to the one used on the Model 3.

If these reports are true, more details can be expected on the Model S and Model X during the Tesla battery showcase in September.
