It has been two years since we last witnessed the Australian Formula One Grand Prix event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, the event kept on getting delayed. However, the 2022 Australian F1 GP is now scheduled for 10th April 2022.

The event organizers just confirmed overnight that the 2022 Australian F1 GP tickets will go on sale in November. Earlier, the Auto Action magazine published a provisional calendar. The calendar listed 10th April 2022 as the date. Now, official sources have confirmed the same date.

The Australian Formula One Grand Prix has been held at Albert Park since 1996. This road circuit was built specifically for Formula One racing. However, the event could not take place in both 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic restrictions.

Over the last decade, the Australian Grand Prix has marked the opening of the F1 championship. Despite the 2022 Australian F1 GP announcements, Victorian authorities and the FIA are yet to confirm it.

So, it is possible that the 2022 Australian F1 GP might also undergo some changes, just like the 2021 F1 championship got shifted several times. Furthermore, insiders from Motorsport say that Australia could lose the slot if the Victorian Government disagrees with the F1 organizers. This would, of course, depend on the COVID-19 restrictions and the quarantine conditions at that time.

Based on the preliminary calendar published, the 2022 season will feature 23 races in total. The 2022 Australian F1 GP is set for 10th April. Right after the 2022 Australian F1 GP, we will have the Chinese Grand Prix/Italian Grand Prix on 24th April 2022.

The opening round is set in Bahrain on 20th March. Then, the final round is set for 20th November in Abu Dhabi.

So, the start and end of the 2022 F1 championship are going to be in the Middle East. Regarding this, Auto Action stated, “Formula 1 is particularly anxious to avoid conflicts with the FIFA World Cup that starts in Qatar on November 21.”
