Locke & Key is an interesting and entertaining TV series that got fans craving more after the first season. Though the first season was good, it left out a lot of background lore about the keys’ origins and provided only surface information. The second season has definitely done better. Read on to know how Season 2 has surpassed the standards set by the first season (Spoiler alert- The following article has spoilers from Season 1 and 2.)

Season 2 features flashbacks to the American Revolutionary War and the conflict between British General Frederick Gideon (played by Kevin Durand) and the Locke family. This season of Lock & key begins with the Locke family living a normal life. Tyler is dating Jackie, Bode has a new BFF, Abby and Kinsey is dating Gabe. Abby’s father, Josh, is the new love interest of Nina.

Both Jackie and Tyler are about to turn 18, and they will forget the magic. This pushes them to search for the Memory Key. For that, they also restore their uncle Duncan’s childhood memories that creates unforeseen consequences. On the other hand, Gabe/Dodge is trying to forge a new key, and a demonic Eden is proving to be a liability than an asset.

As expected, the new season of Locke & Key revealed many new keys as well. The Hercules key and the Small World Key are worth mentioning. The first grants great strength to the bearer while the second fits into a dollhouse replica of Key House, letting the user see anything happening in the house in real time when the dollhouse is accessed. Also, if the user interacts with the dollhouse—let’s say, by placing a single little gummy bear inside—a giant-sized gummy bear will appear in the actual house. The Locke siblings have developed a habit of losing keys to Dodge/Gabe whenever there is a violent encounter.

One of the things I disliked about this Locke & Key season was the lack of chemistry between Gluck and Emilia Jones. Scot could have been a better alternative and could possibly happen in the future.

Still, season 2 of Locke & Key is worth your time. The performances are great, and the story will keep you hooked. I liked Duncan’s character getting more attention and the fact that the series sacrifices a few characters to ensure there are real emotional stakes. Season 3 of Locke & Key has already been confirmed and will surely be as exciting as the first two have been.

I look forward to it!
