Tech giant, Apple is adding a 192-room Apple hotel to its $1 billion corporate campus in Northwest Austin, news came from a revised site plan.

The new Apple hotel was approved by the City of Austin on the 29th of April. The updated map of the project reveals a 75,500-square-foot, six-story hotel, as well as previously approved designated office buildings and parking garages. The second Apple campus in Austin will feature structures totaling three million square feet, and making it one of the world’s largest office buildings.

Explaining to CultureMap, John Boyd Jr., principal of Princeton corporate location consulting firm The Boyd Co. Inc. said, “Apple is a trendsetter in so many ways. Its proposed hotel as part of its new Austin campus is another example of it being ahead of the curve,”

A physically and financially integrated hotel within a corporate structure may seem to be a paradigm shift. But Boyd Jr. also explained, “in the post-COVID-19 corporate travel world, I expect we will be seeing more of this concept, especially from deep-pocketed tech firms like Apple, Google, Facebook, and Microsoft.”

Aside from the new Apple hotel, in another unprecedented move, Apple has recently teamed up with Google on a smartphone technology focusing on coronavirus contact-tracing.
