Not in a few years, but now.”

This letter on the climate crisis has mentioned some demands that “essential to our chance of avoiding a climate- and ecological disaster.” The demands include that all investments in fossil fuel exploration and extraction should end, and the fossil fuel subsidies should be eliminated as well. It also wants EU member states to make ecocide or extensive damaged caused to Earth’s ecological systems an international crime that needs to be presented at the International Criminal court. Another demand in the climate crisis letter is the allocation of “annual, binding carbon budgets based on the current best available science and the IPCC’s budget, which gives us a 66 percent chance of limiting the global temperature rise to below 1.5 °C.” These budgets must be as per the Paris Climate Agreement. The letter also calls for climate policies, which will help in reducing economic, gender, and racial inequality.

Greta Thunberg also said that the climate crisis and coronavirus crisis are two different things and cannot be addressed in the same manner. She called coronavirus as a tragedy that didn’t have any positive effect on the climate.
