Just like its predecessor, House of the Dragon perfectly seems to be set for great success. The Iron Throne is returning yet again but with a slightly different look and appeal to it. We also get to see the Red Keep and Great Hall yet once again, but now are back in time.

The wardrobe department at House of the Dragon has done a tremendous job and some amazing furs are given to the new cast. High Valyrian’s creator, David J Peterson returns again for the new dialogue. And of course, a show that is based on House Targaryen would simply not be complete without dragons.

Yes, that is true. The long-awaited prequel of Game of Thrones is finally here. Game of Thrones itself achieved massive popularity and gained amazing responses from fans throughout the world. While things slowly seemed to be going downhill after season 5, with the finale receiving heavily mixed reviews, GOT’s fanbase is now among the strongest.

Apparently, the new series, House of the Dragon has been derived from the 2018 bestseller Fire and Blood, written by George RR Martin. However, the release was more of a bittersweet moment because fans have been waiting for the completion of the Song of Ice and Fire series. This is the series on which Game of Thrones is based and would most likely be having a different ending as compared to the show earlier.

Nevertheless, House of the Dragon revolves around the House Targaryen, which is one of the most prominent houses in the Game of Thrones universe. The show starts 200 years before the events of the Game of Thrones, under King Viserys I Targaryen’s rule. With the firstborn being a daughter, the king’s wife is pregnant again and everyone hopes it is a male who could be the king’s heir.

Otherwise, the younger brother of Viserys, Prince Daemon could take the lead and of course, nobody likes that arrogant guy. Things start taking twisted turns from there, leading to some conspiracies and political struggles to gain control. Fans can expect the show to have a similar theme and setting. In the end, it is all for control and power.

Those who are wondering, the first hour of the show is going to be full of deaths, bloody beatings, nudity, a look at the king’s council full of self-centered men, lots of money, and of course, dragons. Furthermore, rumors say that there’s going to be incest in the show, yet once again. However, not everybody is going to be happy about the nudity. After all, activists had tried to cancel GOT a number of times for the rampant female objectification and mistreatment in the show.

Near the end of the second hour, we will get to see a lot more dragons, lots of dialogue being exchanged in High Valyrian, some decapitations, more nudity, twists in the narrative, and a dragon’s egg. After all, it is a Game of Thrones prequel show that we are talking about.

In other words, you can expect everything from House of the Dragon that you expected from Game of Thrones. In fact, one might say that you can expect a lot more because this time, George R.R. Martin himself is among the co-showrunners. Being a part of the core team, reports suggest that the man has wanted everything perfect. Now that fact alone has made fans a lot more hopeful about the success of the show. After all, we all know how Game of Thrones went downhill after the showrunners decided to lead the show their own way. The finale turned out to be a disaster for most people.

The first season of House of the Dragon will have 10 episodes. However, it is not confirmed whether there will be a season 2 since no official announcements have been given yet.

The first episode of House of the Dragon is set to air on 22nd August in the United Kingdom. It will be available on the 21st of August on HBO Max and HBO, though. Since House of the Dragon is among the most hyped shows of the year, fans would want to watch the show right on time to avoid spoilers. Social media is surely going to get riddled with them very quickly.
