Pagani is not joining the electrification wave. Instead, the company is trying to make the most of petrol power. To demonstrate that, the company recently shared the Pagani Utopia, a vehicle that boasts a 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG V12 with 635kW and 1100Nm.

The name of the car is unique as it means the perfect place. The founder of the Italian hypercar brand, Horatio Pagani, said that Pagani Utopia is a result of a development program that has been running for six years. It includes 4000 styling diagrams and eight full-scale prototypes.

The car was revealed at the Teatro Lirico theatre in Milan, Italy, but the details of the performance and price are kept under wraps. Usually, Pagani-specific 6.0-litre twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V12 can deliver 635kW at 6000rpm and 1100Nm spread from 2800 to 5900rpm. It can also spin to 6700rpm. Pagani claims that the engine will pass California emission standards.

Only 99 models of the Pagani Utopia will be produced. It will have a seven-speed manual gearbox with an old-school clutch pedal. A seven-speed automated manual will also be available as the Utopia continues with rear-wheel drive and an electro-mechanical differential.

The car’s cabin is completely analogue but doesn’t have a giant infotainment display that dominates almost every car dashboard. Instead, it has several traditional switches and gauges. It also has a carbon-fibre and steel chassis, which the company described by the company as “Pagani Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 with front and rear tubular subframes in CrMo steel.” It helps ensures that the car has a low weight of 1280 kilograms.

The front wheels of Pagani Utopia are 21 inches, while the rears are 22 inches. All are fitted with bespoke Pirelli tires. Also, there is a silhouette of the Utopia on the sidewalls. The styling touches of the Pagani Utopia include a four-pipe exhaust outlet and the unique shape of the headlights.

Talking about Pagani Utopia, Pagani founder and CEO Horatio Pagani said, “After being completely absorbed by this strenuous creative process, the ideals represented by the project became so intimate to me, that any attempt to describe it would have seemed inadequate.” The details of the Australia release and pricing are not yet confirmed.
