Pierce Brosnan Fails to Sell the Orchid House for AU$135 Million

Brosnan turned a mid-century ranch house into a sprawling estate

Back in 2000 when Pierce Brosnan finished filming The Tailor of Panama, The World Is Not Enough, and The Thomas Crown Affair, he bought 1.2 acres of land near a Californian beach in two acquisitions for AU$9.9 million.

A few years down the line, Pierce Brosnan then decided to turn the mid-century ranch house into a large estate. He hired two well-known architects Ross and Ralph Anderson. Not too long ago, the former James Bond star listed the Malibu mansion for AU$135 million – a big jump indeed.

Also referred to as the “Orchid House”, this Californian beach house has been maintained for almost a decade. Since it is inspired by the resorts in Thailand, the mansion does not feel less than a resort either. It is spread over 12,500 square feet including the guest house and the main mansion.

With that, it also features a private beach connected to the property, featuring imported sand. But that is not all. This Pierce Brosnan house also includes 14 bathrooms, 9 bedrooms, and 7 fireplaces. Of course, this is more than an everyday mansion worth a million dollars.

Instead, this Pierce Brosnan mansion is more like a resort. According to Variety, this mansion is “casually extravagant”, especially due to the “extraordinary amount of care and craftsmanship” that it has received over the years.

Why would Pierce Brosnan want to sell off his beloved house, though? According to the actor, he should now “move on” as the kids have grown up. Furthermore, the actor and his wife now stay in Hawaii for the most part.

Unfortunately, though, the listing was more like a mission fail for the former 007 movie star. After failing to sell the mansion for $135 million (AUD), the actor decided to take it off the market. Apparently, the star did not receive an offer good enough.
