Prince Charles is Making a Capsule of Very Sustainable Luxury Clothes

The Australian fires are proof that its high time humans think of a sustainable future. Prince Charles, who is expected to be the future king of England after the Queen has taken a step towards a sustainable future. He has partnered up with Yoox Net-a-Porter group. This partnership is meant to create a line of luxury clothing for men and women that’s eco-friendly.

 

This project of Prince Charles is called The Modern Artisan will bring together young and talented artisans from Italy and Britain to produce a 15-piece capsule collection. The collection is expected to debut sometime around mid-2020. It will be available across e-commerce sites, Mr Porter, The Outnet and Net-a-Porter, all of which belong to the YNAP network.

The partnership between Prince Charles and Yoox Net-a-Porter group will offer teams in both nations in-depth training. The Italian side is expected to work on the design part of this upcoming collection while the British team will spend four months allotted to them to study and research different techniques of sustainable craftsmanship. They have the task of handling silk, wool and cashmere in a way that appeals to all the people who can afford luxury while being connected to the eco-friendly foundations of the program.

 

The Education Director of the Foundation, Jacqueline Farrell appreciated Prince Charles efforts and the project. She said “At the Prince’s Foundation, we deliver education programs to thousands of people every year inspired by the vision of HRH The Prince of Wales. This project is the culmination of our Future Textiles initiative which starts by giving school pupils an introduction to the textile industry and goes right through to The Modern Artisan project which offers an inspiring progression route to any young person wishing to enter the fashion and textile industry.”

Though the news of the partnership might be new for some people, it is a fact that the partnership was in the works for some time. Prince Charles had a meeting with Federico Marchetti, YNAP CEO last year at the London technology hub of the company.

 

This is not the first time Prince Charles has done something for a sustainable future. He sponsors organizations such as The Prince’s Rainforest Project to control tropical deforestation. He has also installed solar panels on the roof of his official residence, Clarence House in 2010.  

This isn’t even the first time a royal has forayed into the fashion world. Prince Charles’ daughter in law and the Duchess of Sussex created a capsule workwear collection this summer in partnership with the charity Smart Works.
