Movie buffs have been hoping for a Joker Sequel ever since they walked out of the theatre after watching the original Joker film this year. Given the fact that the original standalone film earned USD 96.2 million in the opening weekend haul, a sequel makes all the sense in the financial world and might happen soon, but it’s not happening right now.

The news of a Joker sequel was quite popular recently after it was reported that the Director of the original Joaquin Phoenix film, Todd Philips was seen heading into the office of Toby Emmerich, the Group Chairman on Warner Bros. He was seen entering the office on October 7, 2019 and sources reported that he wanted the rights to develop a portfolio of origin stories of multiple DC characters.

It was speculated that Emmerich baulked because Warner Bros, as we all know, is quite protective when it comes to the DC canon. It has been proven time and again as all the DC deals have been for one film only.

Now, multiple sources have reported that the news of a Joker sequel which has led to the development of many click-bait stories is nothing but smoke. There are no deals for a sequel at the moment, and Director Todd Philips and co-writer of the film Scott Silver haven’t been approached with a deal yet.

Though there is no doubt, given the love for the Joker film and its immense financial success that the makers will be bound to think of another film in a few months or a couple of years, all the news you are getting indicating a sequel might be in the works is false.

When such a deal is in the works, it is very likely that Warner Bros will release the news or let a leak reach the audience. Until such day, the fans of the DC extended universe can do nothing but hope for the best.

When it comes to Joker sequel, most fans want to see Joaquin Phoenix reprise his role as Arthur Fleck and as the actor has already talked about it, it is very likely that he will be up to the challenge.
