Dior’s long-awaited take on the classic corrugated metal luggage from Rimowa is finally available for everyone to purchase.

The newly released Dior x Rimowa luggage set, first revealed months ago, is a combination of large and small cases designed to meet a variety of travel needs. All of them have the robust construction that we came to expect from a Rimowa luggage but are filled with Dior aesthetics— the project was spearheaded by Dior’s men’s artistic director Kim Jones. “I’m thrilled about the collaboration with Rimowa and to be able to have an amazing Dior and Rimowa suitcase to travel with as I set off on my global adventures,” Jones stated in an interview.

Jones is well known for his sense of adventure, and travels frequently in search of inspiration to far-flung corners of the globe. His on-road experience makes a perfectly appropriate partnership with the respected travel company. It doesn’t hurt the fact that Dior’s parent company, LVMH, purchased the German business in 2016. LVMH has since employed a series of collaborations to modernise the brand’s portfolio and boost its profile.

The new Dior x Rimowa luggage line, which ranges from $2,440 (A$3,525) to $4,620 (A$6672), is made from the anodized aluminium that has made Rimowa popular, and accentuated with Jones ‘ new touches for a rare combination of fashion and industrial design. Most of the pieces have a gradient Dior logo pattern – originally developed by head Dior designer Marc Bohan in 1967– across their surface, created by a new process developed by the brands. The technique not only infuses pigment on the aluminium but also gives an iridescent quality to the pattern. They also feature logo-embossed leather belts wrapped around the outside to hold any extra belongings safe and secure while also proudly displays the luxurious name.

The lightweight Personal Clutch shrinks Rimowa’s larger luggage sizes into something you can carry crossbody while The Cabin and The Trunk are wide enough to hold enough wardrobe for an extended journey. Whatever your decision, you’ll be quite confident that you and your Dior x Rimowa luggage— and the belongings inside it — will look great once you reach your final destination. The luxurious luggages are available at Dior’s website.
