War is a reality no one can escape, and every war has several perspectives. When the war is shown from the perspective of two unproven soldiers, it can sound terrible, horrendous and full of life threatening risks. It is what the latest, 1917 movie is all about. Read on to know why 1917 is trending at the moment.

The plot of the film wasn’t exactly a shocker as the 1917 trailer was quite simple to understand, but the way the movie unfolds is thrilling. It follows the journey of two ordinary British soldiers in World War I era as the duo, Blake (played by Dean-Charles Chapman) and Schofield (played by George MacKay). It is a journey none of them was anticipating.

The early reviews are in and it looks like this movie is going to do quite well. Heroism is about courage and not the absence of fear and this film purely demonstrates it. In the 1917 movie, one can see the leading duo panic-stricken, terrified or in tears. It doesn’t mean that they don’t have courage. It simply means that they still have fear in their hearts. They can be seen questioning their decision of delivering a message that can probably save the lives of 1,600 British soldiers. The tension on their faces and their gestures is attention-seeking and makes the audience feel connected with the characters.

Another thing worth mentioning in this 1917 movie is that the film’s “single take” structure makes this Universal Pictures film stand apart from the crowd. Many other reviewers have even called it the best war film that has been released since the release of Saving Private Ryan.

Other critics were definitely amazed but not shocked by how good the film has turned out to be. After all, the chemical equation between Sam Mendes with celebrated composer Thomas Newman and legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins is very visible and was bound to create magic on the big screen.

All three of them last collaborated for Bond films, Spectre and Skyfall. 1917 also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong, Richard Madden and Colin Firth. It will have a wider theatrical release this Christmas and  will screen here in Australia on the 9th of January. If the early reviews of 1917 movie we have written seems legit and has intrigued you, there’s no reason you shouldn’t watch the film.
