The Scariest Haunted House on Earth Awards You $20k if You Finish It

In Summertown, Tennessee, the McKamey Manor can claim to be the scariest haunted house in the world. It’s so terrifying that no one ever completed it — but if you do, you’re going to win $20,000.

All it takes is a bag of dog food to enter. Russ McKamey has five dogs to feed, the owner and mastermind behind the manor.

There are several eye-popping preconditions for the haunted house. Contestants who wish to enter should obtain a letter from their doctor stating that they are physically and mentally fit and should also undergo  a drug test during the day of entry. It takes three to four hours to sign the 40-page contract on its own. Hey, and because you’re likely going to get hurt, you have to have medical insurance.

“I’m a very straight laced conservative guy, but here I run this crazy haunted house that people think is this torture factory, fetish factory,”  stated by McKamey during an interview .  “All of these things that it’s not, but people believe that based upon the films that I have made.”

Desolation – McKamey Manor – The Scariest Haunted House on Earth

McKamey deviously plans the scary experience for every individual “brave” contestant who enters, setting up particular stunts and tasks that will surely trigger their particular fears. The house been featured on the Netflix show Dark Tourism and Haunters: The Art of the Scare

McKamey is adamant that nothing unusual happens in the manor, despite a story from The Guardian suggesting that visitors may be “bound, masked and held under water, slapped and stomped on, and compelled to eat your own vomit” during the eight long hours of the tour — and if they last that long.

McKamey states that this is more of a “mental game” between him and the contestants which he wins through hypnosis.

Filmed the entire journey of each contestant through the manor, which McKamey might use to protect himself and interests from false accusations.

“When I use the hypnosis I can put you in a kitty pool with a couple inches of water and tell you there’s a great white shark in there, and you’re gonna think there’s a shark in there,” he told the local news. “And so, when you have that kind of power over people, and have them do and see things that you want them to see, then they can leave here thinking it really happened, and they’ll go to the authorities and say, ‘oh, whatever,’ and I have to come back and show the footage and say, ‘it didn’t go that way at all.'”

There’s also a requirement of watching a two-hour video if you think other people are weak cowards and you’re the definition of pure bravery. “And Then There Were None” is an hour and 48 minutes of mentally defeated visitors giving up the haunted house challenge, telling the video camera and future victims that “you really don’t want to do this.”
