Recently, the retail price for Sony’s PlayStation 5 have been leaked online. Tech enthusiast Ben Geskin spotted a listing for the new PlayStation console on Amazon’s French website, it reveals a €499 price for the standard PlayStation 5 model and a €399 for the digital edition, which coverts to approximately $815 AUD and $650 AUD, respectively. This leak could indicate a potential retail price in Australia of $799 AUD and $649 AUD for each respective PS console if strict conversion is adhered to, but there are a lot of different market forces making the Australian conversion fluctuate. It’s actually too early to tell, anyway.

In addition to the price points of the PlayStation 5, the French Amazon page also included a 20 November, 2020 release date in France. Unfortunately, however, the PlayStation 5 listing has since been updated and you can no longer view the leaked information.

Some have suspected that the PlayStation 5 will retail for anywhere between $500 ($725 AUD) and $400 ($580 AUD), while other tech experts expect the PlayStation 5 console to be more expensive. Recalling the release of the PlayStation 4, it was priced at $399 USD. There were reports that PS5 competitor, the Xbox Series X, will cost $399 USD. While this has yet to be announced by Sony, tech insiders predict Sony will likely keep the PlayStation 5 price at least remotely close to that of its competitor, the Xbox Series X.

Sony has already stated the PlayStation 5 will arrive later this year. Everyone is already a holiday launch, as the PlayStation 4 was released on 15 November, 2013 in the US and 29 November, 2013 in Europe.

Sony has not confirmed the pricing and release date reports as of yet, so be sure to check back with us for the official announcement.
