The new Mercedes Maybach S-Class marks the culmination of “Project MAYBACH.”

Even after his unfortunate death, Virgil Abloh is living on. Not just in the hearts of his fans but also his creations. The latest creation that was unveiled is the Merc Maybach, which has been revealed along with matching streetwear. Read on to know more about it.

The glitzy, limited-edition sedan is launched as a part of the third and final instalment of the late Virgil Abloh’s collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. Project Maybach was first announced in October 2021. Virgil Abloh worked alongside Gorden Wagener, Mercedes’ Chief Design Officer, to create a futuristic, battery-powered grand tourer that was inspired by how one could explore nature within a uniquely luxury context.

The show car was finalized shortly before Virgil Abloh’s death in November. It was then unveiled in December. The duo also penned a new production model based on the 2023 Maybach S-Class S 680 that features a two-tone colour scheme of beige with black accents. It also boasts of signature Maybach 20-inch wheels and the trademark barred grille.

The interior of the Maybach continues the theme of fine beige, and black leather adorns the cabin. It has a 6.0-liter V12 engine that can generate 604 hp. It also has a personalized user interface described as a “more luxurious” variation of the MBUX system.

This time, the new ride by the late Virgil Abloh was presented alongside a matching apparel collection. It was created in partnership with the late Virgil Abloh’s streetwear label Off-White. The capsule consists of an array of clothing and accessories which take design cues from the limited-edition S-Class.

The collection’s colour palette is the same as the Maybach and includes practical streetwear essentials that show off both the Off-White and Mercedes-Benz logos. This unique collection has a classic cotton t-shirt, a co-branded hoodie, a round-neck cotton fleece sweatshirt, and a canvas cap, all finished in a subtle sand hue and vintage wash. It also includes a pair of suede driving gloves, sporting blue “ABLOH” Velcro straps across the wrists.

Only 39 examples of the late Virgil Abloh’s Maybach will be sold in the US, while the apparels are available now online from Off-White, Farfetch, and Maybach Icons of Luxury. It will also be available at select Off-White stores.
