Australia-Singapore Travel Bubble

Why This Travel Bubble is a Big Deal?

The travel bubble is a big deal for Aussies as it will allow the citizens of the country to travel internationally after being stuck in the same country for months.

When Will it Kick-Off?

If all goes well, the travel bubble will start in July this year.

What About Vaccination?

As per reports, a person who has been vaccinated would only be eligible to travel to another country. It is a fact that Australia’s vaccination program will not be finalized by July. So, this travel bubble will benefit the people of Singapore more. A person might need to provide a digital vaccination certificate to be eligible for international travel.

What is a Green Zone?

Singapore has marked some countries where the COVID-19 spread is low as a part of the green zone. In addition to Australia, it includes Taiwan, China, New Zealand, and Brunei as well. So, the country has been open to Australia since October 2020 as the green zone was decided at that time.

What Do I Need to Travel to Singapore?

If this travel bubble works out, a person in Australia can visit Singapore by fulfilling some conditions. First, the person needs to apply for a free Air Travel Pass (ATP). They need to do so 7-30 days before arrival. Then, three days before the departure is planned, a person needs to share their health, travel history, and accommodation declaration by using the helpful SG Arrival E-service. A person also needs to have travel insurance that specifically covers COVID-19 medical treatment. The person also must have a minimum coverage of about AUD 28,755 (Around USD 30,000). A person must also stay at the departure point for 14 days before they board.

What About Quarantine?

As per current rules in Singapore, a person needs to quarantine briefly. If the travel bubble is initiated, a person vising Singapore from Australia will likely need to quarantine for a few days when they arrive in Singapore and when they come back to Australia. If you want to avoid quarantine, you might want to scratch your itch to travel by catching one of the cheap flights initiated by the Australian government. to promote domestic travel.

Talking about the travel bubble, Dan Tehan, Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism, stated that he would be discussing the possibilities with his counterparts in Singapore in upcoming months to decide whether a travel bubble is possible after or alongside the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. He also added, “What we need to do is get people moving again [and with] the confidence to travel.” He also highlighted the need to implement digital coronavirus vaccination travel passports and said, “That will enable that two-way travel to occur, hopefully without quarantining down the track”.
