Andrew Tate: Controversial Social Media Figure was Arrested in Romania
Andrew Tate and his brother have been under criminal investigation since April.

Former professional kickboxer and social media personality Andrew Tate has been arrested in Romania. The local authorities have stated that he has been detained for suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organised crime group.

Along with Andrew, his brother, Tristan Tate, has also been arrested. Both have been under criminal investigation since April. Though the Tate brothers have not said anything, their lawyer has confirmed that they were detained.

The prosecutors said, “The four suspects … appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing, and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost. They would have gained important sums of money.”

The prosecutors also highlighted that they found six women who the suspects sexually exploited.

Andrew Tate’s disrespect for women is quite public. He has previously stated that women were partially responsible for being raped, and they belonged to men.

Earlier this week, climate activist Greta Thunberg told the British national to “get a life” on Twitter after he told her he owned 33 cars with “enormous emissions.” In a tweet aimed at taunting Thunberg, Tate wrote, “Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”

To which the activist replied, “yes, please do enlighten me. email me at [email protected]

In response to the tweet, Tate posted a video where he can be seen smoking a cigar in a bathrobe. Then, a box of pizza was placed in front of him. Internet sleuths think that the pizza box, from a well-known chain in Romania, helped police confirm that the social media figure was in the country and played a key role in his arrest.

Who is Andrew Tate?

For those who have never heard of him before, Tate is a bald, cigar-smoking influencer who shot to fame on social media in 2022, where he shared his extremely misogynistic views with millions of users. He often poses with guns and flashy cars and uses affiliate marketing to game algorithms and flood social media with his content.

Meta has already banned Andrew Tate from Instagram and Facebook for violating Meta’s policies on “dangerous organisations and individuals.”
