Marvel officially releases the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Marvel has officially released the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It shows Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) going against each other. With this film, the fifth phase of the MCU has also begun. The film will be released next year.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be directed by Peyton Reed. This time, the light-hearted MCU franchise is taking a different approach with the threequel as the movie has a darker tone than before. The key reason is the arrival of Kang the Conqueror. The character was last seen in Loki Season 1. Marvel also plans to make him a key character in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Only a little is revealed about Kang’s motivations in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. There is also interest in seeing Evangeline Lilly return as Wasp. Also, Kathryn Newton will portray the role of Cassie Lang, who will become a superhero too.

The plot of the film is also somewhat clear in the trailer. Ant-Man and his team will return to the Quantum Realm. There, they will encounter Kang the Conqueror. The villain and his massive army are coming with another multiverse-level threat. It might lead to another fight. The trailer has also confirmed Bill Murray’s role.

At the trailer’s beginning, Kang’s character seems to be more of a friend than a foe. He asks Ant-man for something in exchange for returning his family safely to their home. However, this might be a ploy, as the real intentions of the Kang variant were not unveiled. As time passes, Kang will likely become more sinister because Marvel eventually wants to portray him as a villain with a history of killing Avengers.

So, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania offers a perfect chance for the MCU to show how Kang changed from a peaceful friend to a deadly foe and how he manipulates and later kills Avengers. The villain’s terrifying side will likely be revealed in phases until it reaches a point where people and the Avengers start fearing him.
