GRIMES IS SELLING A PIECE OF HER SOUL AS A PART OF AN ONLINE ART SHOW

THE TITLE OF THE ART PIECE IS ‘SELLING OUT’

According to a report on Bloomberg, Grimes will be selling a piece of her soul as a part of a new project.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, unveils her first-ever online art show today, showcasing drawings, prints, photographs and the most intriguing feature of course – her soul. Grimes’ art piece is aptly titled Selling Out, which is also accompanied with a legal document made by the artist’s lawyers to support the artwork’s authenticity.

 

Grimes originally planned to sell out a piece of her soul for $10 million (nearly $15 million AUD), explaining, “I didn’t want anyone to buy it. So, I said we should make it $10 million and then it probably won’t sell.” However, with the current coronavirus pandemic and looming recession everywhere, Grimes decided it wouldn’t be just to put something on the market for such an exorbitant asking price. “With the current state of the world, do you want to put something up for $10 million?”

 

Instead, Grimes decided that her artwork will be listed for a “best offer,” leaving it up to people to decide her worth.

The Gallery Platform Los Angeles will host Grimes’ online art show from the 28th of May 28 through to the 3rd of June, and simultaneously at Maccarone Los Angeles from the 28th of May until the 31st of August.
