John Wick: Chapter 5 is Already Being Planned

John Wick returns for Chapter 5. Well, according to recent reports. John Wick: Chapter 5 may be closer than you think, according to the entertainment news source website, We Got This Covered. A fifth instalment of the film series is reportedly ordered by Lionsgate, the film company behind the John Wick franchise, before the fourth film even hit theatres. Now that’s a boost to confidence for the thrilling movie franchise based on gun-fu assassins.

 

Since its release in 2014, the hit action-thriller movie series starring Keanu Reeves has rapidly earned legions of fans. The John Wick movies follow Reeves as the titular ass-kicking Wick, a former assassin who comes back to crime to avenge his beloved doggo’s death, a gift from his late wife.

The seemingly unique pet-loving plot of the assassin created an action-packed franchise that, according to reports, improved the movie roster of Lionsgates after finishing the wildly successful Hunger Games series.

 

At the box office, the first three John Wick movies earned a combined $600 million. The series ‘ third instalment, released in May 2019, was Lionsgate’s seventh-highest grossing film in history. The movie pulled in the box office at a whopping $326 million, much more than the two previous films combined. John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to hit theaters in May 2021.

 

So when the credits roll in 2021, don’t be too disappointed. After all, we’ve already got the promise more of Mr. Wick, even without setting a solid release date— and that’s not just about the rumoured John Wick: Chapter 5. The Continental, an upcoming seties on Starz, is also within the John Wick universe and is set in a hotel that is a refuge for assassins in the world of Wick, although the series will be released after Chapter 4. Another project is already currently in production is the prequel movie Ballerina, which focuses on female assassins in Wick’s world.
