Lethal Weapon movie series is one of the most iconic film series of its time. It is probably why the fans are always eager to know if and when it would be revived. Here’s some great news for such fans. The producer Dan Lin recently stated that Lethal Weapon 5 could return with the original star cast that includes Danny Glover and Mel Gibson.
While talking to the Hollywood Reporter, Lin talked about the probability of Warner Bros’ Lethal Weapon 5. He said” We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie. And Dick Donner’s coming back. The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script.” He was talking to the publication regarding The Two Popes, a Netflix original series he produced in 2019. The movie has been nominated for 3 Oscars.
The news stories regarding Lethal Weapon 5 (a cop film that might remind fans of Bad Boys) has been leaking on and off for a while now. In 2017, it was reported that the film could be in the early stages of development. At that time, the focus was on Richard Donner returning as he had not only directed the original Lethal Weapon movie series, he has also been involved in other treasured franchises. As Donner turned 90 years old in April, he may not be able to return for Lethal Weapon 5 now.
Mel Gibson has not been very active in the industry since the early 2000s as the actor made several racist, antisemitic and homophobic comments. In contrast, Glover has appeared on the screens more frequently. He has 9 more movies, in addition to Lethal Weapon 5, in the works already.
