LIONSGATE REVEALS JOHN WICK 5 TO BE SHOT BACK-TO-BACK WITH JOHN WICK 4

John Wick 5 has gotten the approval from Lionsgate, and it will now be shot back to back with John Wick 4. The filming process is likely to start early next year. The announcement was made by the CEO of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer recently during an earnings call.
Jon Feltheimer said “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two instalments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”
John Wick 4’s release date has been pushed to May 27, 2022, a year later than the original schedule thanks to COVID-19. To keep the audience entertained, the studio is developing a TV series that would revolve the Continental hotel and is expected to premiere sometime between John Wick 4 and John Wick 5.
Director Chad Stahelski and writer Derek Kolstad will once again team up for John Wick 5. The director hatched the plan to make John Wick 4 while promoting John Wick 3 – Parabellum along with Keanu Reeves. He has also revealed that part of the 4th film might take place underwater.
Keanu Reeves whose priority is to finish the filming of The Matrix 4 will be free only next year for John Wick 4 and John Wick 5. It is not the first time the actor would be shooting sequels back to back. He did that with Matrix sequels that kept him busy from March 2001 to August 2002. The actor was last filming for The Matrix 4 but had to stop the work as coronavirus pandemic halted everyone’s plans.
The delay in the filming has proven to be beneficial for the John Wick team as they now not only have the time to plan elaborate underwater sequences, but they also have locked down John Wick 5. The announcement of John Wick 5 is good news for the fans of the film franchise who have been waiting for John Wick 4 for a long while now.
