Million Dollar Vax Campaign: Vaccinated? You Could Win Up To AU$1M

There’s now a million new reasons to get fully vaccinated thanks to a new lottery launching on Monday.

For those looking for reasons to get vaccinated in Australia, a new lottery exclusively for those who have received two jabs is now launching. Any Aussie who has received the two jabs can win a million dollars as part of the Million Dollar Vax Campaign from Monday onward.

But that is not all. At least 3100 gift cards worth $1000 are also a part of the Million Dollar Vax Campaign. These gift cards will be rolled out regularly throughout the month. The Million Dollar Vax Alliance created the Million Dollar Vax Campaign lottery.

The campaign follows a model just like the successful US lotteries. This alliance behind the Million Dollar Vax Campaign describes itself as a “group of philanthropists and corporations with the aim to increase Australian COVID-19 vaccination rates above 80 percent nationally as quickly as possible in a safe manner.”

 

On 5th November, a lucky winner will be chosen on a $1 million prize draw. All Australians above 18 who have received two jabs within 6 weeks or full vaccination will be eligible for the draw. According to the Alliance behind the Million Dollar Vax Campaign, this prize pool is merely a ‘reward’ and is by no means meant to convince people to get vaccinated.

According to MYOB co-founder Mr. Winkler, “(Vaccination is) a decision you should make in consultation with a health professional.”

 

Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, gave a thumbs up to the campaign when he was asked to comment on it. He said, “I’m not fussed about what motivates you – whether it is for your health and to help the people you love, to protect our health system and our nurses, or to win $1 million. Just go and get vaccinated.”

 

Similarly, Joe Satari from Deliveroo also commented on the importance of a successful vaccination rollout for everything to return to normal.

Aside from the Million Dollar Vax Campaign, other smaller rewards have also been announced by various companies for those fully vaccinated. For instance, Qantas is offering fully vaccinated people above 18 a $20 discount on flights or 15 status credits + 1000 Qantas points.
