MrBeast has become the most followed YouTube individual content creator in the world. He beat PewDiePie to achieve this feat. The real name of MrBeast is Jimmy Donaldson is now the number one YouTube influencer in the world and has over 111 million subscribers at the time of writing this article.

The key reason why MrBeast achieved this feat was that he got tens of thousands of followers in just one day. At the same time, PewDiePie was getting a tenth of that. MrBeast had a goal of acquiring 100 million subscribers for a long time. He achieved it in July, and his followers kept on growing. Forbes says he earned USD 54 million (£39.5m or AUD 80.5m) in 2021. His net worth is currently USD 25 million (AUD 37.3m or £21.9m).

It has been reported that he makes a monthly USD $5 million (AUD $7.7m or £4.4m). If that’s true, then he is the highest-paid content creator on YouTube. MrBreast launched his channel more than a decade ago, but he started getting it in 2017 only thanks to his money giveaways and impressive stunts.

In 2018, he posted a video called ‘How I Gave Away $1,000,000.’ In that video, he explained to his followers how he accumulated such wealth through the platform. He also mentioned that companies helped him to donate money.

His key competitor was PewDiePie or Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. He is a Swedish YouTuber who has millions of followers too. PewDiePie is known for his Let’s Play videos and comedic formatted videos and shows.

In another episode entitled FULL SEND PODCAST, MrBeast talked about his money-making formula. When he started getting substantial YouTube subscribers, he got brand deals as a reward. His first brand deal was USD 5,000 (AUD$7,458 or £4,400). He didn’t keep the money but gave it to a stranger and made a video of himself doing so. Such videos helped him gain millions of subscribers.

MrBeast said: “So the first time I got a brand deal is ten grand, well it’s five grand, and I was like double it, and I’ll go give it away. So, I literally I just gave away all my brand deals every single time I got one, so I did that and the next time. I just literally, I would just do a brand deal give it away, and then the next brand deal was bigger, and I just did that for like two years straight.” This formula worked brilliantly, and now he has defeated PewDiePie.
