Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico Season 2- Everything We Know So Far

The DEA continues the hunt for the Gallardo cartel

Narcos is one of the most popular series by Netflix, so it was only a matter of time when it would come back. The comeback is confirmed for Narcos: Mexico Season 2, and some details about the plot, the characters and even the release date have been revealed. Read on to know all about it.

 

Narcos depicted the exploits of Pablo Escobar (whose brother Roberto recently launched a smartphone) as well as the evolution of drug trade in Columbia. Now, Narcos: Mexico Season 2 will focus on the inception of the drug trade in Mexico. The official synopsis of the series is this:

“The missteps, ill-conceived agendas, and corruption on both sides of the border that have led to a dangerous present in the failed war on drugs. It’s the mid-1980s, as Félix Gallardo’s super cartel splinters under its own dark weight and social and political shifts within Mexico prompt its desperate government’s most brazen corruption. Meanwhile, the American effort to exact revenge for Kiki Camerana’s execution leads them further away from any hope for justice. The cycle of violence rages on.”

 

The first season focused on how the Guadalajara Cartel grew in the 80s and how Miguel Gallardo united the factions that were at war to create a massive drug empire. At the same time. Gallardo was hunted relentlessly by Kiki Cameron, a DEA agent.

Narcos: Mexico Season 2 will be released on Netflix on February 13, 2020. It was announced via a teaser clip in which Miguel Gallardo ( played by Diego Luna) tells the audience, “Everybody’s hungry for something. If you flinch, even the toughest beast ends up in a cage.” Then, his glasses show the reflection of a tiger which might signify that things might not go well for the drug dealer.

The plot of Narcos: Mexico Season 2 will revolve around DEA agent Walt Breslin (played by Scoot McNairy), who appeared in the final episode and narrated the first season. In this season, he will try to decipher what happened to deceased Cameron.

 

In Narcos: Mexico Season 2 El Chapo who played a minor character in season 1 will play a larger role. The cast will also include Isabella Bautista (played by Teresa Ruiz), and Alejandro Edda (played by Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán). It will also include the character of Ossie Mejia (played by Jero Medina), the details of which are under wraps. Still, it is speculated that he might be Gallardo’s rival or an undercover agent.
