Pininfarina Battista is Now the World’s Fastest Street-Legal Vehicle

This EV can launch from zero-to-100 km/h in just 1.79 seconds.

Though the Pininfarina Battista has just gone into production, the hyper car is already setting impressive records. It has now become the fastest accelerating road-legal vehicle period. It smashed the previous record set by Rimac Nevera when it made its United Arab Emirates debut at the Dubai Autodrome last week.

As the Pininfarina Battista has a unique launch control system, it can go from zero-to-100 km/h in only 1.79 seconds. The previous record was of 1.86 seconds. The Rimac Nevera set it last year.

Another great achievement of Pininfarina Battista is that it has become the fastest vehicle that can go from zero-to-200 km/h. It can do that in just 4.49 seconds. The car can also quickly slow down. It can go from100-to-zero km/h in just 31 metres. Amazingly, it is also a new record for an EV.

Since it was announced in 2018, car enthusiasts have had high expectations from Pininfarina Battista. The car’s powertrain has four electric motors that combine to pump out 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque.

Also, the Pininfarina Battista has a top speed of 350 km/h. It is not a new record. There, the record belongs to the Nevera, which has a top speed of 411 km/h. The hyper car also has a range of 482 km thanks to its 120-kWh battery pack, which Rimac supplies.

Paolo Dellacha, Pininfarina’s chief product and engineering officer, stated, “I am proud that our new electric hyper GT delivers on the promises we made when we set out our development plan. In Battista, we have achieved performance beyond our original, extreme targets.”

The wait for Pininfarina Battista has been quite long. It was announced four years back. It only went into production earlier this year. The company will only build 150 examples of electric car that is built by hand. Each model gets completed in 1,200 hours. The cost of the car starts at $3.34 million, and deliveries have already begun for those smart enough to buy the vehicle. It will be interesting to see how long the new records stay before some other car smashes them.
