Shang-Chi Deleted Movie Scene Reveals the Mandarin’s Role in Iron Man

The “Do it Yourself” scene takes place right after the death of Ying Li.

It has been 8 years since Marvel gave us a twist related to the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. But finally, the MCU has finally unveiled the real Mandarin in the new Shang-Chi movie.

In the first Iron Man movie, we see Tony Stark getting kidnapped by the Ten Rings.

Well, it turns out that Trevor Slattery was pretending to be the leader and was hired for that job. In Shang-Chi, we get to know that the actual leader of the organization is Wenwu. Furthermore, the Blu-ray release of the film gives us a deleted scene that helps establish a link between the men that kidnapped Tony Stark and the character himself.

 

The Shang-Chi deleted scene

The deleted scene revolves around the time right after Wenwu’s wife’s death. After Ying Li gets murdered, Wenwu resumes his control of the Ten Rings, which he had previously given up due to family commitments.

In the scene, we see Wenwu speaking with the Iron Gang leader. Furthermore, he talks about his meeting with Raza in Afghanistan and that he is quite satisfied with all the destabilization that is happening in the country.

 

From the Iron Man movie, one can recall that Raza was the man in charge of the mission capturing Tony Stark. Though, in the deleted scene, Wenwu does not directly take responsibility for getting Tony’s convoy attacked. However, it is certain that he did oversee the entire activity.

This means that Wenwu would directly be tied with all the events that took place in the Iron Man movie. When we think about the future that Shang-Chi has in the MCU, it all comes full circle. Eventually, Shang-Chi could become an Avenger.

 

Nevertheless, since Wenwu was the one in charge of the organization that kidnapped Stark, it turns out that he helped create Iron Man. Eventually, it was Iron Man that led Avengers to their rise, and hence, Wenwu has a very deep connection with the Avengers.
