All Star Wars fans will be delighted to learn that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released on Disney+ on the 4th of May — the same day as the international Star Wars Day — completeing all the nine episodes of the Skywalker Saga on Disney’s streaming platform.

The epic finale to the saga was originally released in theaters around the world late last year, December 2019. It made $515 million USD in the US and raked in $1.075 billion USD when it was released worldwide. Its digital format release arrived on the 13th of March 2020, which was four days earlier than previously planned. Due to the social distancing regulations currently imposed caused by the coronavirus pandemic — its physical release in stores was just over two weeks later on the 31st of March.

With the final and ninth episode joining Disney+ on 4th of May, the Disney Plus will not only have the entire Star Wars Skywalker saga, but also the two Star Wars spin-off movies, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, allowing viewers for an 11-title binge in one go.

Aside from its blockbuster film releases, Disney Plus will also be releasing the second season of the Star Wars: The Mandalorian later this year in October, with the third season reportedly already in production. The studio is also planning to release a docuseries based around The Mandalorian series, featuring behind-the-scenes footage of the production stages.
