The Sudden Disappearance of the Utah Monolith Made 2020 More Bizarre

2020 has been a strange year for everyone on the planet. From a virus that keeps on resurfacing and killing people all over the globe to the discovery of a mysterious metal monolith in a Utah desert, we have seen it all. To make things more bizarre, the Utah monolith, that gained popularity all over the social media platforms and made people curious about its existence has disappeared. Read on for more details.

For those who are unaware, the metal monolith was discovered recently in the Utah desert. The Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau had discovered it while working with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. The latter was conducting a count of bighorn sheep that were present in South-eastern Utah.

Talking about the Utah monolith, the department had stated “While on this mission, they spotted an unusual object and landed nearby to investigate further. The crew said there was no obvious indication of who might have put the monolith there.”

The Utah monolith showed a pile of rocks with a single shard of metal. It was jokingly compared to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Some people believed that late John McCracken (who died in 2011), a sculptor who liked science fiction had probably created and hidden it. His son, Patrick McCracken had apparently confirmed his father’s plans too when he said his father has told him that “he would like to leave his artwork in remote places to be discovered later.”

We want to mention here that it is illegal to install art or sculptures or structures to federally managed public lands. So, if McCracken had hidden the Utah Monolith and accepted it while he was alive, he might have faced legal trouble.

It was also said that that the Utah Monolith had been in the desert for many years. It was indeed visible on the archived satellite photos from the years 2016 and 2015.

Now, the disappearance of the Utah Monolith has made people wonder once again that how bizarre 2020 is going to be and what is in store for the last month of this year.
