These luxurious abodes are entirely emissions-free, too.

Though you must have heard of overwater bungalows and might have tried a few, here’s something new. The founder of Lazzarini Design Studio, Pierpaolo Lazzarini, has come up with solar-powered pods that resemble 5-star hotel rooms and float on water, the Pearlsuite. Meant to revolutionize the seaside hospitality, these pods also ensure emission-free floating and were designed specifically for fellow Italian outfit Jet Capsule specializing in futuristic, sustainable vessels.

The pods are quite easy to build and are ideal for existing and future resorts. They can be built in weeks and are quite a low cost. A pod, which is equivalent to a hotel room, would have a rough diameter of 23 feet and an enforced main shell and sturdy circular hull, similar to Jet Capsule’s namesake vessel.

Fully autonomous, every pod will be equipped with solar panels which generate clean, green energy to power the lighting, air conditioners, and other appliances. These pods can also be fitted with an advanced GPS positioning system with autopilot and electric motors. Though Lazzarini didn’t share specific details about propulsion, he said that the pods resembling hotel rooms might travel at up to 5 knots. They will also have a gyroscope stabilizer system to ensure seamless and extra smooth sailing.

The pods that resemble a hotel room also have additional storage space in the hull to accommodate gear and equipment. For instance, a person can add a hydrogen fuel cell generator to produce energy onboard instead of depending on the sun for solar power (like on rainy days).

The interior of the pods resembling a hotel room is also impressive. It spans about 238 square feet and can be configured in many ways. The topper of the range is priced at $300,000 and comes with luxuries like a fridge, TV, and a double bed. There is also an outdoor deck with direct access to the water. If someone wants simplicity, they can pick a pod resembling a hotel room with pricing starting at $50,000. Such options might only sport one lounge. So, do your research.
