This Airline Company Tops the World’s Best Airlines for 2021

For a big part of 2020, most airlines remained grounded due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, air travel is going back to normal in some countries. Just recently, the annual ranking of the best airlines was released by AirlineRatings to help travellers choose the right options to fly.

The best airlines list

The Australian aviation product and safety rating agency compiled the list based on passenger reviews, offerings, and fleet age. Along with that, some COVID-19 responses were also mixed along in the list. It is not surprising to see Qatar Airways on the number one spot for 2021.

Previously, Air New Zealand held the title of the best airlines. Now, it stands in 2nd spot. Though, it has ended up in the top entries 6 times over the last few years.

The chief editor of AirlineRatings, Geoffrey Thomas stated that the response of Qatar Airways to the COVID-19 pandemic has by far been unmatched, making it the best airlines of 2021.

He further added, “Qatar Airways has always figured highly in our rankings, winning various awards such as Best Business Class but it was the airline’s commitment to keeping its route network largely open that attracted the judges’ praise — and votes,”

With that, Thomas also noted that the repatriation flights and safety commitment of Qatar Airways make it stand out. Usually, Airline Ratings gives out the list of best airlines every year in November. However, the editorial had to change its plans this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Qatar Airways bagged the top spot in the list, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines conveniently took the second and third spot. Back in 2019, Singapore Airlines took the top spot.

The Aussie airline, Qantas remained on the 4th spot this year. Although, AirlineRatings ranked Qantas as the safest airline to travel to earlier in 2021.
