According to recent reports, Elon Musk, the space billionaire bought a ticket to space from Virgin Galactic. This was before Richard Branson took off for a space tour. However, there are a total of 600 prospective passengers of the SpaceShipTwo, and Elon Musk stands somewhere in between.

The ticket signifies the friendship between Richard Branson and Elon Musk. However, it could be considered an endorsement by SpaceX in contrast with the competition and sass coming from Blue Origin.

Richard Branson went on a trip to space on Sunday along with his crewmates on the SpaceShipTwo spaceplane. The extravagant flight consisted of a concert, celebrity appearances from Chris Hadfield and Stephen Colbert, and elaborate video segments. For about 4 minutes, Richard Branson and the crewmates were under complete weightlessness in the cabin during the trip.

On the other hand, SpaceX of Elon Musk is primarily focusing on setting up government contracts to ferry cargo and astronauts into space. With that, Elon Musk has the vision to conduct the company’s first private manned flight in September 2021.

However, unlike Virgin Galactic of Richard Branson, Elon Musk’s SpaceX will send the crew to a full orbital trip instead of a few minutes of hovering above the Earth’s atmosphere. And hence, it is expected to cost a lot more.

Along with that, Richard Branson now has some exciting news for everyone. Virgin Galactic is all set to offer two free tickets for the upcoming trip to space in partnership with Omaze, a fundraising platform.

The winners will get to meet Richard Branson and will receive the mandatory training for the trip at the New Mexico launch site. With that, they will also be given a private Spaceport America tour.

Richard Branson jokingly stated that he will be present there with a “Willy Wonka hat on.” A live stream of the first spaceflight by Virgin Galactic is now available to view live on YouTube.

In other news, a classic sealed Super Mario 64 copy (still in mint condition) got sold for $1.5 million in an auction (equivalent to AUD 2 million), becoming the most expensive game ever sold.
