This Patek Philippe is the Most Expensive Watch in the World Right Now

It might take some time to break this new world record

There were rumours that the Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A by Patek Philippe could sell for more than $20 million last Friday. However, things turned out to be extremely surprising for everyone. When finally, the hammer fell, the watch was sold for more than $31 million. As a result of this, it has now taken the spot of the world’s most expensive watch.

 

Previously, though, this record was kept in place by the Henry Graves Supercomplication by Patek Philippe. It was sold back in 2014, for a whopping $24 million. However, the Grandmaster Chime has now taken the place of the most expensive watch even in the manufacturer’s entire collection.

This watch includes 1366 components that can move, with 214 case components. This current version is made of steel. There have been a number of iterations of this magnificent watch. These include a $2.5 million watch with 18 karat rose gold, named as Ref. 5175R. Apart from that, the Ref 6300G features white gold and costs $2.2 million.

 

With that, the Grandmaster Chime are only reserved for the top collectors of Patek Philippe watches. Furthermore, in order to own this watch, one must also give an application as a proof that they are worthy of this watch more than the other wealthy contenders. Hence, owning the Grandmaster Chime is not a joke.

After all, this watch is topped with a golden opaline dial (something that is considered as a highly collectible thing). At the same time, the dial comes in ebony black. Though, it is surprising that the watch comes packed in a flawless steel case. Where steel is neither rare not precious, it has become very popular among people when it comes to collecting watches.

In comparison to other Patek Philippe watcher, the grandmaster chime has indeed set a record that might be very difficult to beat anytime soon.
